A boy named Max found a way to turn his talent for drawing scary monsters into a weapon against cancer: the creepy creations of the aspiring young artist are being sold to raise money for a family doubly impacted by the illness – a three-year-old girl named Kyla MacNeil battling with leukemia, and her mother Amber, who recently completed treatments for a brain tumor.

Max's monsters, most of which bear angry, snarling faces, represent his interpretations of cancer as “pretty mean, and scary.” The creatures are being offered by Paper Castle, in exchange for a donation (the minimum amount is listed, but you can donate above and beyond) with all proceeds divided equally between the MacNeil family and  the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.

The artwork has also inspired Kyla's sister Kinley to create some monsters of her own, which are also on display at the site.
