Because you can only "Dead Yourself" so many times, right?
FX’s newest hit series, The Strain, from acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro and executive producer Carlton Cuse, has a warning for the general public: They may be infected with The Strain.
The Strain Transformation app is available as a free download in the iTunes and Google Play stores. Fans can discover what will happen when an ancient parasitic plague enters their system and transforms them into a monstrous vampire. From examination to diagnosis, they’ll see their transformation in seconds. The app enables the infected to quickly share photos of their results on Facebook and Twitter to inform and warn their friends of the spreading infection. It offers exclusive video and access to The Strain social media, including the official Strain Facebook and Twitter pages..
FX worked with the agency Neo-Pangea to execute the Transformation App experience.
The Strain is a high concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.
The ensemble cast of The Strain stars Corey Stoll, Mia Maestro, Sean Astin, Kevin Durand, Natalie Brown, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Robert Maillet, Jack Kesy, Ben Hyland, Miguel Gomez and David Bradley. Writer, producer, director and novelist Guillermo del Toro has built his career on bringing fantasy and horror to vivid life. He wrote and directed the dark fairy tale Pan’s Labyrinth, which garnered six Academy Award nominations, including one for del Toro for Best Writing, Original Screenplay. The film went on to win three Oscars®. Named by The Hollywood Reporter as a “Master of Horror,” del Toro’s other film credits include Pacific Rim, Hellboy and the upcoming Crimson Peak starring Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam and Jessica Chastain.
The Strain airs Sundays at 10pm
It has been well over a year and a half since the Leprechaun
rebootprequel was announced and since then we have been given a clip and a first trailer, but we had not yet had even a glimpse of Dylan Postl (AKA Hornswaggle) as the titular character. Well, that has all changed. Lionsgate and WWE have released this official image and a new trailer. But they are a bit confusing:
The reason I say the new design is confusing is that Postl and director Zach Lipovsky have been making the rounds down in Comic con and telling everyone that, while darker and scarier than its predecessors, this is the origin story for the Leprechaun portrayed by Warwick Davis. So that begs the question, how does what looks like the love child of Pumpkinhead and Sam reconcile, both in appearance and behavior, with the little guy we know from 6 previous films?
I guess we shall find out in a month. Leprechaun hits VOD on August 26, 2014 and Blu-ray and DVD September 30th.
During the Screen Gems Panel this morning at Comic Con, Sam Raimi, who was there to promote a Last of Us movie, dropped another bit of surprise news. He is currently writing an Evil Dead TV show and it will involve Bruce Campbell (whatever that means).
That's it. No more details.
A prequel? Bridge the 3rd and 4th films? Pick up where the last film left off? Please feel free to speculate wildly as to what the show will be about in the comments.
The Walking Dead just wrapped up their Hall H panel at Comic Con, and as has been the case for the last several years, they unveiled a trailer and the actual premiere date for the upcoming season. Check it out below

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is the fourth film of George Miller‘s Road Warrior/Mad Max franchise co-written and directed by Miller. The post-apocalyptic action film is set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life.
Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order… There’s Max (played by TOM HARDY from The Dark Knight Rises), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos. And… Furiosa (played by CHARLIZE THERON from Prometheus), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.
Anyone familiar with the character of Deadpool knows that version that ended up on screen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine was an abomination. As bad as he was, it had nothing to do with the actor portryaing him, Ryan Reynolds. So when talk of a Deadpool movie featuring Reynolds, based on a screenplay buy Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland) that brought the 4th wall breaking charchter to life just as he is in the comics, it was reason to get excited. (Like this footage, that script also leaked years ago and is still fairly accessible online.)
The script, that everyone loved, had one issue in the minds of Fox studio heads, it was an R rated superhero movie. They commisioned a screen test using the opening scene of the film. Reynolds came in for the motion capture and recorded the dialog. The test footage has just come online (for now) and you can watch it below.
WIll this ever get made? I certainly hope so.
Scream Factory was at comic con this past weekend trying to get the message out about their upcoming release of the Halloween Complete Collection. With so much going on in San Diego during convention, you really have to get creative to make an impression. Enter 10 dancing Michael Myers right across the street from the convention center. (Jump ahead to the 1:30 mark.)
Oh, and the box set they were promoting? It is massive! Check out all of the extras and specs on the 15 disc collection.
You may or may not know this, but as of July 30th, FEARNET will shut its doors forever. In April, Comcast NBCUniversal bought out FEARNET. Because NBCUniversal already has Chiller and Syfy, it was decided that FEARNET was redundant. Most of the staff was laid off then, with a skeleton crew kept around to help with the transition.
True Blood Season 7 Recaps Will Be Found At Shock TIll You Drop.
This was one of the better episodes of the season. There were a lot of story threads, nothing particularly explosive, but sometimes that is all you need.

Last month we learned that Evil Dead 2 co-writer Scott Spiegel is producing an upcoming film called Welcome to Purgatory, and today the exciting announcement has been made that Spiegel's most badass buddy has joined the cast. Read on, fiends! Cupsogue Pictures has revealed that both Bruce Campbell and James Buckley have joined the cast of the feature, which is set to take us deep into the bowels of Hell.
Deadline is reporting, straight from San Diego's Comic-Con, that after Baby Driver, Wright is directing for Sony Pictures the film adaptation of Andrew Smith's 2014 book Grasshopper Jungle. Actually, Wright himself already recommended to his 464k Twitter followers to read Smith's acclaimed book.

I like to think that I’m a rather easy-going theatregoer. If people audibly respond to what’s happening on screen, I can easily tune it out and focus on the film at hand. However, I could hear the increasingly louder breaths of frustration from the older couple as the film progressed. With about 15 minutes left to spare until the credits roll, one of the more climactic events occurred that solidified THE PURGE: ANARCHY‘s message of “down with the rich-white folks” and the older white couple behind me had had enough. The two stood up and walked out cursing and mumbling under their breath. I couldn’t make out exactly what they said, but something about “bullshit,” “Obama,” “guns,” and some racial slurs definitely came out. I’ve never seen a film outside of a Biblical story invoke such anger out of someone as they left the theatre, and that’s when it was all solidified for me. It’s not going to win any Oscars, but THE PURGE: ANARCHY is the most important film of 2014.
The talented duo behind UNDEAD and DAYBREAKERS, as well as the upcoming time travel feature PREDESTINATION have teamed with Hammer for WINCHESTER, a horror film based on the San Jose house of mystery. The famous Winchester Mystery House is quite actually a sad story of seeming psychosis.
What would Leatherface’s teenage angst be like? Well, you might find out. About a month and a half ago we reported on the near-death of one Leatherface and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. Millennium Films, who was behind the 2013 Texas Chainsaw 3D, quickly refuted telling us it was just taking longer than expected. It appears they were being truthful. How quickly things can change...
Perhaps sensing the opportunity to build on Mad Max: Fury Road's already-skyrocketing hype, Warner Bros. released a slightly abbreviated version of the Hall H footage earlier today. If I was excited before, I was straight-up overwhelmed upon actually seeing it. I don't know what I expected, but I certainly didn't expect to get choked up with unadulterated joy while watching it.
Back in May, Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller spilled some beans about the show’s upcoming third season, revealing that Will Graham is very much still alive, and teasing that the season will be far different from the previous two. Be sure to give that iHorror archive post a read, if you missed it.
At the San Diego Comic Con this past weekend, Fuller opened up even further about Hannibal Season 3, providing us with a whole lot more insight into May’s suggestion that we’re in store for a whole different experience.
Deadline reports that an offer to direct is out to helmer Joe Cornish. What’s more, the outlet reports that scribe Max Borenstein will provide the screenplay. Appearing to be a sort of Kong “origin story,” Skull Island looks like it will explore the life of the classic movie monster before he was taken to civilization.
