Cheap Thrills, the indie thriller that scored the opening “Midnighters” spot at South By Southwest, has already landed a deal. The Paris-based company Films Distribution, whose past genre acquisitions include Benjamin Rocher’s cult zombie hit The Horde, Alex de la Iglesia’s insane clown-vs-clown epic The Last Circus and Franck Richard's darkly comic cannibal flick The Pack, will bring the film to the Cannes Film Festival to sell to distributors.

Produced by Snowfort Pictures (whose horror comedy Big Ass Spider! is also screening at SXSW), Cheap Thrills is the directorial debut of screenwriter E.L. Katz (Home Sick, Autopsy). It stars Pat Healy and Sara Paxton – who previously starred in Ti West's The Innkeepers– along with David Koechner, Ethan Embry and Amanda Fuller. The story by Trent Haaga (Deadgirl) and David Chirchirillo (Dances with Werewolves) involves a new father facing eviction whose life is turned upside down when he meets a wealthy couple who offer him a path to a better life... but at a price.
