Festival fave American Mary, the second horror feature from “Twisted Twins” Jen & Sylvia Soska, has been slated for theatrical release on May 31st from distributor XLrator Media (whom we previously announced would be bringing Norwegian horror-fantasy Thale to the big screen next month), and to accompany that release, the film now has a classy new poster accenting the film's supporters and awards.

American Mary shocked and impressed festival audiences in 2012, won the praise of horror legend Clive Barker, and picked up five awards at last year's Screamfest, including a shared Best Director award for the Soska sisters and a Best Actress nod for star Katherine Isabelle (previously known for the Ginger Snaps films). The follow-up to the Twins' micro-budgeted Dead Hooker in a Trunk, American Mary is a much more elaborate production, focusing on a medical student (Isabelle) who becomes disillusioned with the profession – not to mention enraged by a sexually abusive teacher – and takes up a lucrative but dangerous gig performing illegal body-modification surgeries mainstream doctors won't touch.
