Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Sinister) and Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story) are teaming up to produce a remake of the 1976 cult film The Town that Dreaded Sundown. Loosely based on the true story of a hooded serial killer who terrorized small town residents on the Arkansas-Texas border in the 1940s, Murphy recently admitted that the original "freaked" him out. "I was just starting to babysit my brother, and the ads for that would come on and I would get freaked out."
The remake already has a script from Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who wrote the remake of Carrie, coming out later this year, and is also working on the Little Shop of Horrors reboot. Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, who has directed several episodes of American Horror Story and directed second unit on Argo is in talks to make The Town that Dreaded Sundown his feature directorial debut.
