Zombies Get Brainy in Upcoming Large Hadron Collider Movie 'Decay'

When the Large Hadron Collider (the world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator) was built last decade, there were concerns (mostly from doomsday soothsayers and anti-science nuts) that it could open up a black hole and swallow up everything on Earth. No one worried about zombies.

But maybe they should have. A group of physics students (led by writer/director Luke Thompson) are working on a film entitled Decay, about a malfunction in the LHC that causes those working in the lab to become zombies. Super nerdy, I know, but what is cool is that the good people at CERN (the lab that hosts the LHC) let the students shoot in the actual Large Hadron Collider and the surrounding laboratory. CERN does not endorse or sponsor the film, but they might be the coolest bunch of scientists ever.

The movie doesn't look great. Shot by people who have never shot a movie before, and done on a respectable budget of about $3,000, Decay is a flick that benefits from an awesome setting and unique backstory that you can pretty much guarantee no one else will be able to duplicate.

Decay will be available to watch online for free when it is done. In the meantime, check out the trailer and keep up-to-date at DecayFilm.com
