Actress Maria Bello has signed on to star in the upcoming, untitled James Wan thriller. One can only hope it's not the MacGyver movie. (I know, it's not.)
Wan is producing the thriller, directed by Will Canon (Brotherhood) and written by Max La Bella (Children's Hospital) based off an idea from Wan.
In the haunted house gone bad story (really, haunted houses very rarely end up good) Bello plays a police psychologist who arrives at the murder scene of five college students whose night ghost hunting in an old house goes horribly, horribly wrong. The lone survivor says the house itself is responsible for the bloodbath. Sounds reasonable to me.
Bello's long list of credits include roles in A History of Violence, Assault on Precinct 13, and Downloading Nancy. Production is set to begin in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in January.
