It's often said that movie poster art is dead, but as last year's book Alternative Movie Posters showed us, that statement quite frankly couldn't be further from the truth. While it is true that movie studios are for the most part no longer interested in plastering incredible pieces of art on the theatrical posters and home video boxes of their releases, there are nevertheless countless independent artists who are keeping the art of poster art alive and well, and Trevor Dunt is one of those artists.
The Delaware-based artist actually had two pieces of poster art featured in Alternative Movie Posters, and his speciality is digitally created artwork that evokes the spirit and feeling of vintage graphic design. Oftentimes weathered and aged, Dunt's posters for films like The Exorcist, Alien and Halloween look like pieces of art you'd find up in the attic of an old home, and he's also given the retro style treatment to more modern day flicks such as House of the Devil and Planet Terror.
Check out a handful of the retro-inspired designs below and see more, as well as purchase prints, over on Trevor Dunt's website!
