It Came From 1984

As Radio Shack reminded us this past weekend, with one of the best Super Bowl commercials of all time, the 1980s was a pretty awesome decade, as it pertains to all things pop culture. Some of the best horror films of all time were released in the decade of big hair and even bigger personalities, and 1984 in particular was a standout year for the genre.

Gremlins, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter were all released in that one epic year, along with other fan-favorite gems such as C.H.U.D, Children of the Corn and The Toxic Avenger. A great year to be a horror fan, to say the least.

This coming weekend, Brooklyn's Bottleneck Gallery celebrates the cinema of 1984 with an art exhibit aptly titled 'It Came From 1984,' which features artwork in tribute to all of the aforementioned films, plus many others. The opening reception for the exhibit is this Friday, February 7th, at 7pm EST, and you can learn more over on Bottleneck Gallery's website.

In the meantime, check out some of the horror highlights from the exhibit below, many of which we found over on Blurppy!
