Haw Par Villa

Have you ever wondered what it'd look like if Disney Land was designed by Takashi Miike?  Don't worry, I haven't either.  In fact, it'd be pretty damn weird if you ever did wonder that.  But now that I've got your interest piqued, let's take a virtual vacation over to Singapore, where the world's most terrfiying tourist attraction awaits.  Come along with me, if you dare!

Haw Par Villa

Designed and built in 1937 by brothers Aw Boob Haw and Aw Boon Par, Singapore's Haw Par Villa - a.k.a Tiger Balm Gardens - is the stuff nightmares are made of - a hellish journey through historical Chinese folklore that features over a thousand horrifying dioramas.  Apparently the idea was to depict iconic and infamous situations and stories from Chinese mythology, including the 'Ten Stages of Hell,' but the attraction has a lot more in common with films like Hostel than it does any history lesson you've ever been given.

Haw Par Villa

The bizarre and nightmare-inducing statues showcase everything from a giant crab with a human head to men being tortured and mutilated - and that's just the tip of this blood-covered iceberg.

Haw Par Villa

As reported by Oddity Central, Haw Par Villa is still open for business but is currently a deserted shell of its former self, and efforts are being made to restore and update it.  My advice?  Don't change a single thing - this is the kind of oddball history we absolutely must preserve!
