It wasn't so long ago FEARnet held an interview with Tim Lambesis, founder and frontman of San Diego-based metalcore band As I Lay Dying, so this story feels more than a little bit surreal – and probably just as bizarre to the band's fans. Last night it was reported that Lambesis has been arrested after he allegedly sought the help of an undercover detective on May 2nd to have his estranged wife killed.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, the 32-year-old singer was taken into custody at a Barnes & Noble in Oceanside, California. The police had been acting on a lead that he was looking for someone to carry out the murder. Tim has been separated from his wife Meggan (who also lives in the SD area) since last year.
Details on the case are under wraps for now, so there's no info on the possible motive behind the plot. Lambesis is being held without bail and his arraignment is scheduled for tomorrow. If found guilty, he could be looking at a nine-year prison term.
